Conjunctivitis in cats is one of the common pet health problems. It causes a lot of irritation, pain and other discomfort to your feline friend. Effective veterinary treatment is available for conjunctivitis. But to get them on time, you need to determine whether your cat is suffering from any such kind of health issue. You may do this easily if you know the pet symptoms for conjunctivitis.

The cat tends to have discharge from its eyes. The discharge may be clear or thick or purulent. The conjunctiva of the cat is more visible than normal. The conjunctiva gets reddened and swollen. It is particularly so at the corners. The affected eye of the cat appears red or pink. This is the reason why conjunctivitis is also known as pink eye disease.

Now, you know the symptoms of conjunctivitis in cats. Keep them in your mind. Make it a point to check the eyes of the cat on a regular basis. If you happen to find the above given signs in your cat’s eyes, take it to an expert veterinarian as soon as possible. Timely diagnosis and effective treatment are sufficient to restore the normal state back.

Cats Too Can Be Toilet Trained-Know How

Most cat owners consider cat litter to be a part of owning a cat. However with some patience and perseverance cat owners can toilet train their cats to get rid of the cat litter problem once and for all.

One of the most efficient ways of toilet training your cat is to buy a litter tray. The tray is available in various shapes, sizes and colors at any pet shop. Place the tray in an area easily accessible to the cat and far from the cats sleeping and eating area.

Always use the tray a few weeks before toilet training your cat. As soon as you see the cat is comfortable using the tray change the location to near your bathroom and let it be there for a few weeks. Increase the height of the tray gradually and once the cat is comfortable using the tray on a stack or piles of newspapers shift the tray to the toilet seat to replace it with a metal pan or bowl.

You might have to place the same litter in the metal bowl for a few days and soon your cat will be toilet trained to give you a litter free home.

    Overweight Cats – Getting Common

It’s a funny fact that humans are not the only species in the world that have to face the problem of overweight. In fact pets such as cats have to face the problem as well. The facts and figure indicate that there are about 40 % of Overweight Cats. This is a pretty high number. Only 5 to 10 % of cats are believed to be in the normal category. Veterinary doctors have always advised the pet owners to take special care of their pets so that they don’t get over weight.

    Reason for Overweight

It is known fact that there are more cats than dogs in the United States of America and many of these cats are believed to be Overweight Cats. So what basically causes these cats to be overweight? The answer to this issue is simple; if you eat more than you burn then you get over weight. Most of you might question is this really the reason? Well the real fact is yes this is. It’s a simple as that.

    How to avoid Overweight

The logical way to avoid overweight is to feed your cat or pet only the amount of food that it requires. What this means is that there is no need for extra meals. Some time pet owners come to the doctor and say that they don’t overfeed their pets, yet they become overweight. The doctors simply reply to this by saying that there is no other source of food other than the pet owners themselves.

So to conclude the topic all we need to do is to make sure that appropriate food is given to the cats and they are given proper opportunity for exercise as well.
