I always wanted a Goldfish as a pet however the misconception that they have a high mortality rate kept me postponing my plans till the time I learnt how to take care of them and today have several Goldfishes that have been with me for years now. Easy to follow tips below will help you keep your Gold Fish healthy and happy.

    1.    Did you know a single goldfish needs about 20 gallons of water; ensure your fish tank is big enough for the fishes to swim and play around.
    2.     It is very important you change at least 10 to 15% of the water in the tank every week. This helps you maintain a steady temperature.
    3.    Keep a check on the water temperature as it should always be within 65°F – 68°F to ensure you do not end up with a fish Popsicle.
    4.    Goldfish should always be kept in aged water. Ensure the tap water doesn’t contain too much of chlorine if it does there are tablets available to get rid of the excess chlorine.
    5.    It is always advisable not to keep a goldfish in a bowl. A goldfish can live up to 20 years if taken care of properly and they need space to swim.
    6.    Choose a filter which is appropriate for your goldfish, there are several available in the market so pick the one that suits your fish tank.

Don’t overfeed your goldfish and keep in mind the tips to ensure you have a fish friendly home.
