When I asked the reason, she cited that rabbits have a unique and delicate digestive system. They have specific requirements which need to be considered .If we miss out those needs, we harm our pet. So, while planning their meals, it is very necessary to take care of unique necessity of this charming animal.

If you have rabbit and face the similar problem, here are some points which can help you plan out the meals efficiently.
- Provide clean and fresh water to your pet. Make sure water doesn’t freeze in winter.
- Majority of rabbit’s diet should consist of fresh grass and hay.
- If you want, small amount of cereal can also be given. Make sure it doesn’t substitute grass and hay. If your rabbit is pregnant and growing, you can increase the amount of cereal a little bit.
- Rabbits are of course fond of plants. However, you need to take extra care while dishing out plants to it. Some plants may be toxic. Find out safe plants and make sure to wash these points properly.
- Carrot, fresh fruits etc. should be given in small amount only. Don’t overdo the amount as these may cause intestinal problems in rabbit.
- Don’t feed the rabbit with dried fruits; nuts, seeds, cookies, and crackers .These treats may harm its digestive system.
- Adjust the diet so that your pet maintains a balanced weight. More weight will make it lethargic and lesser will hamper its growth.
- Keenly observe eating and drinking habits .If you find any change in its drinking and eating pattern, consult your vet straightaway.
I have tried to cover up major aspects related to the diet of rabbit. . Though diet may vary according to their breeds, age, weight, height and location, some basic factors remain the same for almost all types of rabbits.
