But you never know when they might fall sick and you have end up paying hefty bills. Even routine pet care can burn a hole in your pocket. Now you do not have to worry about this because through health insurance you can pay your vet bills which will help to make a final decision about your pet.

Relatively speaking veterinary care is pretty expensive but this is not all unreasonable. You need to keep certain things in mind that your veterinary is not your pet’s general physician. You should know that the original health cost of the animal bears no resemblance with services rendered.

Pet health insurance also offers coverage for wellness of your pet like dental cleaning and vaccinations. Now you too can rest easy because you can pay for your pet’s medical bill. This makes sure that you do not have to choose between your pet’s wellness and personal expenses.

Pet health insurance typically gives protection to your pet in case of illness and accidents. You also get choice for wellness of your pet because it is important to keep them healthy and happy. This is affordable and through this you can protect your pet from long term chronic illness. Therefore it is important to take time to understand pet health insurance and choose the best one for your pet.

Originally posted 2011-04-20 04:28:14. If you are an exotic pet lover and searching for an uncommon pet, snake may be right choice for you. But all species of snakes are not good as pets. I am going to let you know about milk snake- considered to be a good pet.

A milk snake may be a good member of your family provided you properly care for it. They can grow up to 2-3 feet and are available in different colors. For more details on milk snake, scroll down…

Housing

The first and foremost requirement is a secured enclosure. Make sure that the length of enclosure is minimum 2/3 rd of your snake’s length. For proper housing, you need various things including shallow water dish, substrate for the cage, hiding places, and artificial branches. Hiding places are necessary because these snakes feel safe when hide. But be careful while using substrate as these snakes love to burrow. You can use Aspen shavings instead.

Maintenance

It’s very easy to care for milk snakes. For juvenile snakes, you need to feed after every 4-5 days. Adults require food every 7-10 days. To maintain good pet health, make sure to maintain good humidity level in the cage.

Feeding

For these snakes, pre-killed frozen items are recommended. You can easily find it on pet stores.

This was the basic info about milk snakes. Before finally taking one at home, I would recommend further detailed research on their characteristics and temperament.

After all, keeping a snake is a different responsibility!

But, with the passage of time, many new options came into focus. One such option is pet adoption centers. They are considered much better option than buying pets form pet shop because of many reasons. Some of the major reasons are;

·Variety in pets

.Healthy pets

·Groomed pets

Variety in Pets

Variety that the pet adoption centers offer in pets is not found in the pet stores. Especially, if you want to adopt different types of pets, you would find a great variety of all kinds of pets there.

Healthy Pets

Unlike pet shops, where they are kept carelessly, pets in the pet adoption centers are kept with great care, all their feeding requirements are met in the best manner, and all efforts are made to keep them healthy. So, if you would adopt pet from pet adoption centers he/she would surely be healthy.

Groomed Pets

Pets adoption centers are a better option than pet stores because, if you would adopt a pet form some there, he or she would be already groomed and trained whereas, if you would buy it from some pet shop you would have to spend considerable time in grooming the pet which might even annoy or irritate you sometimes. So, to adopt pet from some pet adoption centers would surely be a much better option as compared to buying pets from some pet store.

Originally posted 2011-04-17 05:09:39. Republished by Blog Post Promoter

Are you looking for any reptile to be your companion? If yes, you can think about bearded dragon.

It is a nice pet for lizard lovers. They are quiet by nature and make good pet option for beginners as well as for experienced pet lovers.

To know more, scroll down…

Housing: You have many options for housing. In market, you will find different types of cages and tanks for your lizard. Using creativity, you can build one at home also. It is preferred to impart some natural look to the cage. It will make the reptile feel comfortable.

Usually 20 gallon aquarium is sufficient for younger ones and 40 gallon for adults. Use of glass on the cage is not preferable as it stops air circulation.

Feeding

Bearded dragons can eat both; plant and animal matter. But make sure to cut its food in small pieces. Usually, it’s recommended that pieces should be smaller than space between its two eyes. If pieces are bigger, it can create hind leg paralysis and your pet will suffer terribly.

You can offer crickets (to baby and juvenile) two-three times a day. But if it stops eating, don’t force it to eat. Younger lizards can have 30-50 crickets a day.

Adult ones can be provided with prey items also including cockroaches, mealworms, locusts and earthworms. Don’t feed them on the insects you catch in your backyard. These insects may be poisonous and may kill your beardie.

So, if you bring a bearded dragon, take care it properly to keep it happy and healthy.

They have come up as a latest handbag accessory for fashionable women including wives and girlfriends of footballers.

Hedgehogs are quite easier to maintain. This is the main reason they are being preferred over designer dogs like Chihuahuas.

They are tiny creatures usually one fourth of the size of normal hedgehogs. The best thing is they don’t cart disease and are fully domesticated. As they are the rare and unusual entrants in British pet-stores, people are queuing up to snap them up.

“There are only eight serious breeders in the country and we can’t keep up with demand”, said breeder Bonie Martin.

These hedgehogs are so tiny that you can fit them easily on the palm of your hand! In charm, they are at par with hamster guinea pigs but some added novelty and vow factors are also associated with them.

They are incredibly cute, very easy to handle and care for, cheaper to maintain…what more qualities you will search while selecting pet for your home? And there is a variety of colors before you. Chocolate brown is the most common color but you can select different colors ranging from albino to apricot.

They can be just around 7-8 inches in height, and around 2 pounds in weight. They have a short lifespan of around 4 years. It’s very convenient to keep them because when you will be at work in daytime, they will keep sleeping. They usually wake up in evening. You can enjoy with them when you come back home after work.

So, do you want small and beautiful pet? If yes,you can definitely think of hedgehogs.

You must be thinking what I am talking about. I am talking about little teacup size pigs who are the latest must-have companions.

Many doubts are prevalent regarding cleanliness and hygiene of pigs but these tiny toys are surprisingly clean, social and intelligent also. They really enjoy the company of human beings. The charming animals, which can be just around 14 inches tall, are being frequently snaffled by celebs and animal lovers.

Many celebrities including Rupert Grint(Harry Potter actor), Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckhem have snapped up these miniscule creatures to adore their homes. Mini-pigs are becoming popular for their docile nature and low maintenance. They don’t need to be taken for morning or evening walk and have very less health issues. It is quite easy to train them and once you make bonding with them, you will really enjoy their company.

“Micro-pig is a perfect pet”, said Jane Croft, a breeder at Little Pig Farm. Even for people who are prone to allergies, they make a good option. Their skin is quite similar to that of ours and it’s really difficult to get allergies from them.

Their activities can easily mesmerize you. They will rest with you and enjoy watching TV in evening. They are fond of good food, little toys and even high Classic FM!

So, if you want to enjoy the company of this unique and fantastic creature, take it to your home. You will wonder why you haven’t think of pigs before.

<em>Rabbits are really cute animals and you may be bowled by their cuteness. However, if you are planning to have one you must be aware of certain things about a rabbit. Let us have a look at these things-

1.They poop and pee everywhere

But don’t worry they can be easily litter trained. In fact rabbits are naturally very tidy animals. (Do you know even in wild, the rabbits tend to poop at a particular place only?) However even after getting trained at times they leave an odd poop here and there, this is just to mark there territory.

2.Save your carpet

Yes you got me right. Rabbits love digging even if that is your carpet. The best option to save your carpet would be give him some dirt to dig.

3.Rabbits bite

In fact rabbit bites can be very painful. The reasons behind nipping can be various like at times he nips you to say I love you, if you are in his way he may bite you. The important thing over here is that when the rabbit bites you squealing is a great option, as this lets the rabbit understand that it is painful.

4.Also save your furniture, cables etc
Rabbits have teeth that keep on growing for their whole life. So they keep on chewing things to cut down their teeth. So the best thing is give them an alternative to chew upon. Another thing you can do is apply some double sided tape or vinegar on the furniture (they definitely don’t like their whiskers being stuck and talking about vinegar they hate its smell and taste).

So now that you know what are the bad habits your rabbit is going to have, make preparations accordingly. After all it is going to be worth the pain.

Originally posted 2011-04-04 09:01:08. Republished by Blog Post Promoter

If you are interested in beautiful birds, purple martin will definitely appeal you. In my view, it’s the most beautiful bird in United States.

The most fascinating thing for me is their color. You may wonder why I am praising this bird for its color. There are so many birds exhibiting beautiful color-mix. Parrots are specifically known for their colors. Still I would say nature has really made them unique in this aspect.

This bird doesn’t show a color-mix like parrots. They are majorly purple-colored birds. But due to different light conditions, they show variations in their color. They are seen in different shades ranging from dark blue to bright purple.

The purple color shines in sunlight which is a delight for viewers.

The way purple martin flies is capable to capture our heart. They fly high and sporadically for they have to catch insects. Sometimes when flying high, they are often seen falling towards the birdhouse like a bullet. As soon as they come closer, they dive inside. Such are the tricks of this agile bird.

They are very social and friendly with human beings. In fact they love people.

If you want the bird at your home, you need to make a good house first. Also, you can go to market and search for some affordable bird house for purple martini.

Make sure that you make a nice house for the bird. The bird will be happy and you also will be happy. A win-win situation for both.

With the world facing severe droughts, tsunamis, cyclones, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes; its importance has risen substantially.

However, how many of us think about pets at the time of disaster? If you have pet, it’s a part of your family only. So, some planning should be made to keep them safe.

If you are also looking for some instructions, I can help you out.

Plan Before a Disaster

Keep pet carrier ready and make your pet learn that the carrier is safe.

Plan an emergency kit for pet. It should have water, food, medication and some other things you think fit for pet.

You should have pet identification tags ready with you. It will be easier to rejoin in case you are separated from your pet.

Plan During a Disaster

Earthquake and other disaster may scare your pet. So take it inside. Better if you put it in the carrier. It will be safer there.

If disaster is severe and you have to evacuate your area, never forget to take your pet with you. If you have already arranged any place for pet, it’s fine but if you don’t have any place, you can put it in car.

If you put your pet in car, make sure that emergency kit is also there. Leave the window of the car slightly open so as to supply ventilation.

So, keeping these little things in mind, you can save your pet during disaster. However if the worse happens; if you get separated from your pet, have faith and patience. You have identification tags with you. These tags will increase the chances of reunion with pet.

It was his pet. It was a unique fun for me watching the activities of the small rodent. I wondered why people don’t think about mouse when comes to choose pet for home.

I shared this feeling with friend, surfed some websites also. Then I got to know that this small animal is suffered from some unfair prejudices.

If you are also planning for some pet at home and have ruled out mice because of the same reason, I request you to have a look at the following factors.

All mice are smelly: Though there is some truth to it, it’s not absolutely true. Male mice generally produce odor in their urine, it’s not that much terrible also. And female mice hardly smell. With male mice also, if you clean your cage properly, it won’t be any problem for you.

Mice are disease-home: It’s also a common thinking that mice are nasty because they bring so many diseases. Since the time of bubonic plague, this stigma is associated with this animal. It true that that time mice were the carriers of that bacterium. But some humans also carried the bacterium. In fact, bacteria can be carried by any animal. To associate it solely with this animal is absolutely wrong.

Mice don’t have understanding: People think that mice are stupid. They can’t recognize their masters like dogs or other pets. It is not true. Mice are very intelligent creatures and if groomed and cared well, they can also make a good bonding with their breeders. They can cheer you with funny tricks.

Mice are not good pets. In fact they are! This small animal is easy to keep and take care. They are so small and quiet to disturb anybody. Above all, it not at all expensive to breed them. What more can you expect of a pet!

So, think once again before selecting pet for your home.
